What are the year groups?
The National Curriculum is now divided into 5 Key Stages; primary schools cover the Foundation Stage and Key Stages 1 and 2. The Foundation Stage caters for very young children (aged 3-5) and used to be called Nursery and Reception.  Key Stage 1 used to be referred to as Infants, and applies to children in Year 1 (aged 5-6) and Year 2 (aged 6-7). Key Stage 2 used to be referred to as Juniors, and applies to children in Year 3 (aged 7-8), Year 4 (aged 8-9), Year 5 (aged 9-10) and Year 6 (aged 10-11).
